Shoo Fly...

Hi Everyone!  I wanted to show you the new metal screen I got.  I'm so excited about it.  It arrived on Saturday and couldn't wait to take pictures of it to share with you, but I decided I had to make a stand for it first.
It's a shoo fly screen.  I have always wanted one!  I've seen them at Hobby Lobby but they always looked too cutesy to me and I wanted one that looked authentically vintage.
And I found one at Antique Farm House.  Have you seen their site?  It's the "baby" shop to WUSLU.
I had this large wooden plate in my stash and decided it would make the perfect base for my shoo fly screen.
I painted the base coat black.
With a top coat of white.
Once it dried, I sanded off the white and put a brown antique medium over the top.  And sanded it again once it dried.
And then I added a black wooden candle base to the bottom of it.  Sorry I forgot to take a picture of it.  And here it is.

I really like the way it turned out.

I can't wait to put it on my kitchen island.  But right now I have several projects drying there.  Thanks for stopping by.
