Painted buffet....

Hi Everyone!  It's beginning to look like Christmas...in my Studio.  I spent the weekend rearranging the studio to accommodate all the furniture that has been out in the shop in anticipate of my upcoming Open House.  But before I got to far into it, I decided I had better get the buffet painted that I purchased at the auction this summer.  The before picture...
I loved this piece as soon as I saw it advertised for the auction...but I didn't love the orange color.
I still can't believe I was the winning bidder on this piece.  I brought it home and it's been sitting in the studio, untouched, ever since.  Until Friday night that is....
I love the legs!  They are gorgeous!
 And the details are incredible!
I painted it in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White.  I distressed it lightly.
I love how the paint brought out the details....
...and I was able to reuse the hardware...I just cleaned them up a bit.
As soon as it was painted, it just made me smile.  I think it looks so much better this way.  What do you think?  Would you distress it a bit more?...or leave it lightly distressed?  And even though I love it, it will be for sale at my Open House on November 9th and 10th.  Thanks for stopping by.

  8. the old white color looks so much better on your piece than when I used it. Maybe I'll give it another try as your piece is lovely!

  9. Your buffet is so gorgeous, the paint sure did bring out the gorgeous details. Sure wish I lived by you as I'd buy that buffet if I had to give up eating for a month. (might be a good idea anyway with holidays coming up, hmmm?) I want a buffet so much. Whomever buys that piece will get an incredible piece.

  10. Holly, this is a beautiful piece. I don't like the orangish stain either but I have mixed feelings about painting over wood. But I guess when styles change the ASCP will be easy to remove. I have a table that is bird's eye maple that was my grandmother's and a few years ago my dad told me that it was a painted a light green when she got it at a tag sale and she stripped.
