Painted glass....

Hi Everyone!  Happy Wednesday!  The weather yesterday was nice.  The temperature was in the 50's which was great, but there was a cool wind.  But at least the sun was shining!  I want to share with you one of the things I did this weekend.  I was given a box of old jars.  In this box were vintage Ball Perfect Mason and Atlas Jars.  I wanted to use one to see how it would last if I painted it.  I know I could have painted it with spray paint, but I've always wondered how well it lasted.  So I thought I would try something different.  This is what I ended up with.
I started with a clear vintage Atlas jar.  I cleaned it with rubbing alcohol, per the instructions on this glass medium from Folk Art.
This is the same medium I use to paint on the glass windows.
This is what it looks like with the first coat of glass medium.
I let it dry for about an hour.  Then I pulled out this sample bottle of Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint in Olive.  I put three coats of paint on it, letting it dry well in between each coat.
After I was happy with the coverage, I coated it with a final coat of glass medium.
It turned out pretty well.  The only problem is, it has to cure for two weeks before you use it.  But I'm hoping at the end of the two weeks, it will be hard as nails so it won't chip or scratch the paint.
I think I'd like it better if it were painted white, but I really wanted to see the olive paint on something.  And I wanted it to show up well in pictures.
I'll let you know how well it withstands use and washing when the two weeks is up.  Thanks for stopping by.
