Wooden tote...

Hi Everyone! I hope you are all having a great week. I was able to spend the evening out in the shop building. I have several orders I need fill so it was great getting being out there. I wanted to let you know that Dad's follow-up appointment yesterday went well. They did the ECHO and an EKG and both came back normal. The doctors decided to hold off on the Abdominal Aortic Aneurism repair for 6 weeks instead of 4 weeks. They just want to give Dad plenty of time to heal so he'll be in better shape for the next surgery.

Now onto a project I made for the craft fair. I started out with a stack of wood that I cut down to the sizes I wanted. I had double the pieces because I was making two of them.

I forgot to take pictures of the building. I got into the building groove and forgot to stop and pick up the camera. Bad blogger!

This is what I ended up with from that stack of wood.

Once I sanded them down I painted a base coat of black and a top coat of white and then sanded it to give it a well used appearance.

And here is one of them at the craft fair. Neither one of them sold but I can always put them to use. They are great for holding all sorts of things including paint and tools. Thanks for stopping by.

Craft fair pictures...

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a good week. Dad is recovering nicely and has his follow up appointment today. Hopefully that goes well and in four weeks or so he'll be able to have the AAA repair. I worked out in the shop a bit yesterday. I have orders to fill which is wonderful. I have to get caught up after the craft fair and Dad's appointments and surgery. I thought I'd show you a few of the pictures from the fair and then follow up over the next few days with some of the things I made for it that I haven't shared with you before.

I left for a while on Saturday to take my dogs out and my dad sold my trio of paintings. He made a deal and grouped them all together. I hope they found a happy home. I'm actually kind of sad that they sold. I guess I'll have to make another set for myself.

This big bench sold on Saturday. I was really sad to see this one go. I loved this bench and if I had a place to put it, I don't think I could have sold it.

Surprisingly, I only sold one sign over the two day fair which is really unusual. I normally sell out of signs rather quickly. The only bright spot to that is I don't have to remake a bunch of signs.

This little fence and birdhouse also didn't sell. One lady was really interested in it but I came home with it.

I'll post about the little cupboard in a day or two.

I have some new signs to share with you too.

I brought home the wooden flag. I'm not sad about that either.

This was a very popular bench and I got a lot of great comments about it. It sold first thing Sunday morning. I loved the fabric on it.

My storage box/coffee table didn't sell either but I love this fabric too. I have an order for another one with a different cushion on it so I will be swapping out the top for the new one so I don't have to build another base yet.

I sold a couple of those cheese cloches with birds nest and eggs.

One of my best selling items were the soap/lotion dispensers. This is what I did with a lot of those jars I was given by my mom's friend.

I also sold several of these jar lamps. And the love bird coasters.

I was actually kind of surprised that I only sold one of the numbers and none of the wooden boxes or trays.

I sold some other items that didn't get set out until later in the day on Saturday or on Sunday and I didn't get pictures of them in the booth. It was a good fair. I had quite a few sales and I got some really great leads on things for the future. I also got a few orders and hopefully a few more will come out of it too. I met some really wonderful people and can't wait to do it all again here in September at the Apple Jack's Fair. The couple that run this craft fair also own the craft shop in the mall and after we had brought in a few of my items, they stopped me and told me they wanted my things in their shop. So that was great to hear. We'll see if I can afford the booth space. Now I really have to get working on those orders and start replenishing my inventory. I will also try to get caught up on all of my favorite blogs that I've missed the last few weeks. Thanks for stopping by.

A little box remake...

Hi Everyone! Happy Friday! I want to share a little remake with you that I did. I made this box/shelf thing a couple of years ago.

It has been sitting on it's side on my shelf holding a few knickknacks but I haven't been happy with it. So I reworked it a bit.

And this is what it turned into.

I started out painting over the black with a quick coat of ASCP in Old Ochre. But I wasn't happy with it.

So I put a top coat of ASCP in Old White. Ahhhh.....much better.

Then I took these old drawer pulls that came off the cabinets that I remade as my kitchen island and painted them with ASCP in Old White.

And then I distressed it. It's hard to see here but the black and Old Ochre are peaking through the Old White. I think it helps to make it look like an older piece.

And then I added the drawer pulls to the sides.

And now instead of it being on it's side, it's sitting like a tray.

And it can hold more pretties than it ever did while it was on it's side.

It will be much more useful this way.

Three little boxes...

Hi Everyone! I hope your week is going well. I finished those three small boxes that I started on Tuesday. If you remember, last week I found these in my stash...

....and I made this with it....

...and I said I had three more of them...as it turned out I did have three of them, two are small and only one is larger...

....so I took the one large one and this stack of wood.......

....and made these little boxes.....

....one with the fancy rosette and two without.

I filled the nail holes, sanded and slapped a coat of black paint on them.

Once the black paint dried I added a coat of white paint and waited for the paint to dry. In the meantime I worked on the signs for my client, played with the dogs and answered some emails.

When they finally dried, I sanded the white to age them.

Then we had a little photo session.

I like the vintage milk bottles in them.

And of course a little bit of yellow.

And there they are. I like how they turned out. I think I'm going to add them to my bathroom once I finish the little remake I'm working on. Note to self...get different flowers. What would you use them for? Thanks for stopping by.

A hodge podge of things...

Hi Everyone! Happy Wednesday. Yesterday was my day off. I had a long list of things I needed to get accomplished including a trip to my parents home to get their mail and check on their house and I needed to pick up some Power bars to send to my nephew at Marine boot camp. I also had projects to work on. Unfortunately, I don't have anything new to show you today. I was working on building up my inventory for an up coming craft fair.

Here's a stack of new signs that I completed. I'd show them to you, but you've seen them all already.

I put together some of these. The base of this one is a large tart pan. I just love the fluted sides. I just couldn't decide if I should put it on a base and make it taller. So I did a few that weren't on a stand.

I also put together a box of soap jars, but these won't make it to the fair. I need to drop these off at the shop tomorrow.

I was working on turning these scrap pieces into these....

I started them, but didn't get these finished. I was also working on using these...

...the two smaller ones.

And here's a large frame I got for $1.00 at my local junk place. I'm going to turn it into a message center with the little clips. I also started working on the signs for my client, but I don't have anything to share yet. Hopefully I'll have finished projects to share with you tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by.
