Hi Everyone! I'm busy getting ready for the Holiday Open House at my Studio in a couple of weeks. I have to finish making a few shelves, some wooden ornaments and spindle trees. I still need to rearrange the furniture in the studio (it's full). And I need to decorate the Studio for Christmas since it is the Holiday Open House. My Mom is helping me get ready for it (thanks Mom!). But in the meantime, I thought I'd show you some headboards that my friend Lynett and my Aunt Barb picked up for me recently.
I love the large turned posts. I'm not a fan of the lattice work but I'm thinking that needs to be removed and the center pieces upholstered.
This one is large. Not only is it long (it's a king size) but it's tall too. I'm thinking of just painting it and leaving it as a headboard instead of turning it into a bench.
I like this spindle bed. The foot board is missing it's finials on the sides of the center piece but I think I can find away to replace them.
I love it when I get matching ones. These are actually bunk beds. I love the solid backs. I can't wait to work on them.
I love this one. It didn't have a foot board but I have one that I think will work.
I know it's not a headboard, but it is bed related. It's a Jenny Lind crib that I can take apart and use in a lot of different projects. I will be busy this winter working on different projects with the headboards. What would you do with them? Thanks for stopping by.

Headboard remake....
Hi Everyone! I hope your week is going well. I've been busy working in the shop this last week since the weather has been nice. This is one of the projects that I was working on. If you remember, my aunt gave me this headboard which you can see here. It needed a lot of work so I knew I wasn't going to turn it into a bench.

I cut the legs off. And will use them on another project.
And used parts of a Jenny Lind crib to make the pegs. I attached them with glue and long wood screws.
I painted it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old Ochre. Then sanded it down.
I hand painted the letters on in black.....
...and painted the bird silhouettes and the branch.
I really like how it turned out. I will be taking this to the fall fair. I've never made one like this before. I thought about cutting the peg part off and turning it into two separate items. What do you think? Should I leave it as is? Or should I separate it? I'd be interested in what you think. Thanks for stopping by.Linking to:

My day off....
Hi Everyone! I hope your week is going well. Today was my day off and I didn't get quite as much done as I thought I would. I did get the mowing completed but I didn't get the trimming done. There's a lot of trimming to do here on the farm.
I drove by the building that has an ongoing garage sale. And this frame caught my eye. I turned around and picked it up for $3.
It has this little plague on it that says Snow Bound by Marion Gray Traver. It's a great size for one of my wire and clip message centers.
When I got home from mowing at my parents home, I got a phone call from my Uncle Bill. He was letting me know he had been here and dropped off another Jenny Lind crib.
And three rails. I only got pictures of two of them because I had already put one away when I remembered to get my camera out. He rescued them from going to the landfill. So they were free for me. Have I said recently that I love free stuff? Well I do! Thanks Uncle Bill! Now I need to get working on these orders so that I can get them completed, shipped, and have something to share with you. Thanks for stopping by.
I worked on the order I got for the trio of paintings.
I worked on a set of signs for a client.
I picked up some lumber for the bench I'm working on for one of my co-workers. I did the fun stuff like laundry and cleaning. And I went to my parents home and mowed the yard for my them. So I don't have a finished project to share with you. I have a couple of finds to share instead.I drove by the building that has an ongoing garage sale. And this frame caught my eye. Free stuff.....
Hi Everyone! I hope you are all doing well. We had great weather again today! Too bad I had to work. It would have been a great day to be out in the shop. Do you like free stuff? Do you have anyone in your life that brings you free stuff? I have several. In fact, my Uncle Bill stopped by my work today with something for me. Here's what I got...
I love it when people know what I might like and drop it off for me for free! My Uncle Bill saved this from going to the landfill. Thanks Uncle Bill! I love free stuff, don't you? Now, what to do with it?....so many possibilities... Thanks for stopping by!
