Window into spring...

Hi Everyone!  I hope your day is going well.  Today is my day off so I'm running around trying to get EVERYTHING done that I can.  Including finishing some things that I started this weekend.  And maybe start a few new things.  Since I don't have two days off in a row, it makes it difficult sometimes.
Do you remember this window that I showed you a couple of days ago?
It was given to me by the lady that runs the shop where I have items for sale.  She was kind enough to give me three of them for free!  Yeah for free!!  I started out by scraping the paint and caulk that was on the window and then I cleaned it really well.  I had to let that sit for a while to make sure it was super dry.  Then I started painting on it.  I started with the first layer of details in this case the black center of my flowers and then just build from there making sure the first layer of paint is completely dry.
It's a really simple look.  The poppies are in bloom.

I was going to fill in the grass all the way to the bottom of the window pane, but as I started to fill it in, I decided I liked it not filled in.  I'm going sit with it a while and see if I'd rather fill it in.  I my mind's eye it needs to be, but I sort of like it this way.  What do you think?

It's been super cold out here, so this is a nice way to bring a bit of "spring" inside.  Now I just need to find the hangers I was planning on using and get this baby hung up.  Are you dreaming of spring too?  Have a happy day!  Thanks for stopping by.

Cold weather art...

Hi Everyone!  I hope you had a great weekend.  It was cold and windy here.  I got a few projects finished and several others started.  But no building of anything new.
I started working on a window art project but it's a long process because things have to dry really well before you move onto another step.  So hopefully I'll have something to share in a few days.  I also started some new signs.  Again, there are several layers there so more waiting.  That's why I usually have several projects going on at once.  Sometimes I feel like I have ADD...can't stick to one thing at a time.  I think it's because I have limited time to get things done and I try to make the most of that time.  I can't imagine what I'd get done if I didn't have to go to work.
I did make these.  I took a couple of blank canvas boards that I found in my stash.  I painted them white.  Even though the canvas is already white it still needed a coat of white.  I found this clipart on line, can't remember from what site.  I printed it out so I had something to reference and sketched this onto the canvas.  You could also use graphite paper to transfer it or a stencil but of course I don't have any of those on hand.

Then I painted it black.  Now I'm trying to find just the right frames to put them in.  I'm thinking of a couple of nice thick frames with loads of character and some chippy paint.   If I can't find any that I like I'll make them.  I have some nice trim pieces that would make great frames.  Well, hopefully I'll have more to share tomorrow.  Thanks for stopping by.

Winter Wonderland Window Art....

Hi Everyone!  Happy Sunday!  I hope you are all doing well and gearing up for the upcoming holiday season.  It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is this week!  Where as the time gone?  I wanted to share with you one of the things I made and sold last Saturday at the Craft Fair.  I painted another window.  If you've been following along, you might remember that I picked up a bunch of windows for FREE that were curb side when they replaced the windows in a beautiful Victorian home by my parents home.
I painted this one on both the front and back of the window.  The face (the eyes, noses and mouths) were painted on the front side and everything else was painted on the back side of the window.  The hardest part was painting the letters on the back since they were backward, but I think it turned out pretty well.  It sold right away at the Red Cross Craft Fair.  I wouldn't have minded taking it home with me, so maybe I'll have to make one for myself.  Hope your weekend is great!  Thanks for stopping by!

Window art....

Hi Everyone!  Happy Saturday!  There's been a bit of Christmas around my house since August.  I began working on Christmas decorations to take to the last two craft fairs that I've attended.  I started with ornaments and thanks to my mother for all of her help!  I'll show you those soon.  I wanted to show you what I did with a couple of these windows.  I got these curbside this winter when I went to my parents house.  I think I have 10 windows of varying sizes.  They came out of a Victorian home that got all new windows.  So no money spent, just the way I like it!
I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them, until I decided to turn them into window art.
I didn't paint the frame at all.  I just cleaned the window and removed some of the weather stripping that had been added and duct tape from one of them.  And then on the back side of the window I painted Frosty.  And of course added the saying and snowflakes.  I put a glass paint sealer on over the entire window to give it that frosty look.  I really like the way he turned out.  And he sold right away last weekend.
And then of course I had to paint Santa Claus.  This isn't the best picture because of course you can't read the words.  It says, "Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night."  I think he looks pretty good.  I've never ever even attempted to draw Santa Claus so I'm really happy with the way it turned out.  I only put the glass paint sealer on the painted parts since I didn't want the glass to be frosted on this one.  I love the way the snowflakes turned out on both windows.  Santa sold last weekend which made me really happy!  I have a few non Christmas ideas for a few of the windows, but I think I'll have to make another one for the next Craft Fair which is November 12th and will be here before I know it!  So I've got to get busy!  Well, thanks for stopping by!
