A birthday gift...

Hi Everyone! One of the things I made this past week is a birthday present for my niece. I'm pretty sure that she doesn't read my blog so I don't think I'll be spoiling the surprise. Vicki's birthday is Saturday and I'm hoping that her package makes it on time.

I thought it was an appropriate sign for a girl that is turning 16 on Saturday. I had fun making this one. But I almost forgot to take a picture of it before I packed it up. I hope she likes it! Happy Birthday Vicki! Thanks for stopping by.

Craft fair pictures...

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a good week. Dad is recovering nicely and has his follow up appointment today. Hopefully that goes well and in four weeks or so he'll be able to have the AAA repair. I worked out in the shop a bit yesterday. I have orders to fill which is wonderful. I have to get caught up after the craft fair and Dad's appointments and surgery. I thought I'd show you a few of the pictures from the fair and then follow up over the next few days with some of the things I made for it that I haven't shared with you before.

I left for a while on Saturday to take my dogs out and my dad sold my trio of paintings. He made a deal and grouped them all together. I hope they found a happy home. I'm actually kind of sad that they sold. I guess I'll have to make another set for myself.

This big bench sold on Saturday. I was really sad to see this one go. I loved this bench and if I had a place to put it, I don't think I could have sold it.

Surprisingly, I only sold one sign over the two day fair which is really unusual. I normally sell out of signs rather quickly. The only bright spot to that is I don't have to remake a bunch of signs.

This little fence and birdhouse also didn't sell. One lady was really interested in it but I came home with it.

I'll post about the little cupboard in a day or two.

I have some new signs to share with you too.

I brought home the wooden flag. I'm not sad about that either.

This was a very popular bench and I got a lot of great comments about it. It sold first thing Sunday morning. I loved the fabric on it.

My storage box/coffee table didn't sell either but I love this fabric too. I have an order for another one with a different cushion on it so I will be swapping out the top for the new one so I don't have to build another base yet.

I sold a couple of those cheese cloches with birds nest and eggs.

One of my best selling items were the soap/lotion dispensers. This is what I did with a lot of those jars I was given by my mom's friend.

I also sold several of these jar lamps. And the love bird coasters.

I was actually kind of surprised that I only sold one of the numbers and none of the wooden boxes or trays.

I sold some other items that didn't get set out until later in the day on Saturday or on Sunday and I didn't get pictures of them in the booth. It was a good fair. I had quite a few sales and I got some really great leads on things for the future. I also got a few orders and hopefully a few more will come out of it too. I met some really wonderful people and can't wait to do it all again here in September at the Apple Jack's Fair. The couple that run this craft fair also own the craft shop in the mall and after we had brought in a few of my items, they stopped me and told me they wanted my things in their shop. So that was great to hear. We'll see if I can afford the booth space. Now I really have to get working on those orders and start replenishing my inventory. I will also try to get caught up on all of my favorite blogs that I've missed the last few weeks. Thanks for stopping by.

Door sign...

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a great week. Do you remember this door I showed you a few months ago that was given to me? It's a solid core door that came out of a home that was torn down. My original plan was to use this in my home since it's from the same era, but I decided to use this one for other purposes.

I cleaned it up and then I cut it up. Yes I said I cut it up. I almost didn't, but since I have two others, it didn't bother me so much.

This is what I did with the middle section of the door. I cut it apart, sanded it and added chair part pegs to it.

Then I hand painted the welcome and the love birds to the center.

I love the chippy look on the edges. These are some of my favorite pegs.

I put a sealer on the sign to keep the paint from chipping anymore.

This is one of my favorite signs. I love the fact that the door parts are still intact. I would love to keep this one but I have no wall space for it. So it will be going with me next weekend to the craft fair where it will hopefully find it's new home. I got a lot done today on my day off. But unfortunately, I didn't finish any of the things I was working on. I have more projects to finish after work for the rest of the week. As always, thanks for stopping by!

Wedding signs, part four

Hi Everyone! I hope you had a great day. The weather was good...a little windy but good. I wanted to show you the last of the wedding signs that I finished last night. If you've missed the rest of the collection you can see them here, here and here.

I made these signs the same way I made the others. And as always, they are hand-painted. I think I'm done with this collection of signs for now. I think I'll start another collection. Thanks for stopping by!

At the farm and signs....

Hi Everyone! I hope your week is off to a great start! The weather was good by mid afternoon and into the evening, so when I got home from work I got started on a couple of new projects. Tomorrow is my day off but I need to make a run to see my headboard supplier so my shop time will be cut down tomorrow. I started four projects tonight so hopefully by tomorrow night I'll have at least one finished to share with you. But tonight, I'm going to share a couple of odds and ends with you.

First off, last week I caught some pictures here on the farm that I thought I'd show you.

From a distance, this almost looks like a funny looking cloud.

But it's actually thousands of Canadian and Snow geese. They are flying around and landing in the field to the west of my farm.

It's really an amazing sight. And the sound they make....my dogs and I sat outside watching and listening to them for a while. My chocolate labs were intently watching and waiting. They really wanted to go retrieve them.

And here are some flying overhead. We have a pair that nest every year at our pond. I thought about heading down there to get a picture, but I didn't want to disturb them. I saw them from the road the other day, but I was without my camera.

I made a couple of other signs this weekend. I had an order for the Joy in your Life sign. They wanted it in off white and only lightly distressed. I'm waiting to hear back to see if they like it so I can get it in the mail.

A collection of signs....

Hi Everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. I had a productive weekend. I made a bunch of signs. I had some orders to fill and I managed to make a few for inventory too. I have a craft fair coming up at the end of April and I needed a few more signs. I thought I would show you the collection of signs I made for my client's mother. They are for her kitchen wall. She has a large mirror that looks like a window that will be in the center of this collection.

Welcome sign

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a great Saturday. I want to show you the new sign I made last night. I was given this chippy door this past summer by my Aunt Barb. I have looked at it over and over again wanting to paint on it, but not wanting to paint it. It's really hard to tell in this picture but it has muted yellow, green, and tan paint showing through. And I love that you see where the hinges and knob were. I really like it the way it is, but knew it needed just the right something on it....so I kept putting it back. Then last night it hit me...it needed to have birds on it....and words.....
