Headboard city, the sequel...

Hi Everyone!  Can you believe all the things my Aunt Barb, aka the Free Stuff Fairy brought me!  If you missed it, check it out here.  I got 16 head or foot boards.  Can you believe it!?   So here is the line up of headboards...

 Here they all are together, just after we unloaded the van.

 As I put them away I lined them up for pictures....There are full size ones....

 ....a queen size...and a couple of twins....

 ...some are great and ready to use right away, some need a little TLC and others will be pieced out for parts.....And a few of them are my new favorites and I can't wait to get my hands on them!

 Like this twin.  Isn't it grand!  It's missing one of it's decorative pieces....I'll have to remove the other one and then add something back to them since there's no way I can replace the one that's missing.

 This is a full size set.  I love the way the headboard looks like two  seat backs.  It makes it look so unique!

 I love this one!  It's really thick, solid and sturdy.  I can't believe someone drew on it.  I bet some child somewhere was in trouble after doing this!  It also came with it's rails and they are in great shape.  Maybe it should stay a bed?...maybe?.....maybe not.  We'll have to see.

 I love this foot board.  I can just imagine what the headboard looked like....too bad I don't have it.  But it's in pretty rough shape.  So I'll see if I can fix it and if not, then it will be pieced out for parts.

 I really like this one.  I think it's definitely calling out for a saying to be painted on it.

And these two twins are great.  They are a little short to be a bench but will either make great arms for two benches.  Or the legs will be used on armless benches and the the rest of it can become one of the headboard shelves with pegs that I've been making.  So those are the great headboards and foot boards that my Aunt Barb, the Free Stuff Fairy brought up this weekend.  Thanks again Aunt Barb!  And thanks for stopping by.

The free stuff fairy strikes again...

Hi Everyone!  I have been busy working on custom items, a few new pieces and some things for the studio.  But I had to show you the free stuff I got on Saturday.  My dear sweet Aunt Barb that I first introduced to you here and here, as the free stuff fairy, has struck again.  She's been on a picking spree for me.  There's nothing like having your own personal picker out there hunting down deals and haggling over prices, who delivers it and then gives it to you for free.  Thanks so much Aunt Barb!  So on with the show!

 Here's an overview of the things Aunt Barb brought me.  There are bunches of headboards and frames (that shopping bag is filled with frames), shutters, old window frames, spindles, a cupboard door, a carnival-like wooden horse, and a few other items.

 There are 16 head or foot boards.  Some will be pieced out for parts, some will make benches and a few might even be used as headboards.  I will show the headboards tomorrow.

 There are some really great frames in all different sizes.  Nine pairs of shutters.  And a little wooden shelf.

 Five old window frames.

 A few weathered pieces...one is a cool table leg and that carved board is great.

 There are 35 spindles.  Thirty-five of them!

 More frames.  I love the two identical owns with all the carvings.

And an antique quilt rack.  I love this.  I just might use this in the studio for displaying fabrics.  I can't believe all the work my Aunt Barb did to find all of these great items.  And I can't wait to get started on them.  Now if I could just add 12 hours to each day so I'd have the time to get everything done.  Thank you so much Aunt Barb!  And as always, thanks for stopping by!

Headboard line-up....

Hi Everyone!  I wanted to show you some close ups of all those free headboards that 

my free stuff fairy Aunt gave me yesterday! 

 These are the full size headboards, with one that has a foot board.

 Love this one!  Look at those feet....

 ...and they have the original casters too.

 This is simple but I can work with it.

 This one is a bit rough and needs a bit of work, but nothing I can't deal with.

 Have I said how much I love this one with the casters and that center detail.

 I like this one too.  I can see this painted a creamy white color without the gold details. 

 Or maybe a pretty blue....too many choices.

 Here's the line-up of the twin headboards.

 I might not make a bench with this one.  It needs a lot of work but I could use it for parts and pieces.

 I have had two other headboards just like this one that I made into benches.

 These are the twins.  But I could turn one into the arms of a bench or I could make two benches.

 The lone foot board.....I think he'll be in storage for a bit...

 Diamonds anyone?...

 And the last two are the headboards and foot boards.  

They are both pretty rough but nothing a good cleaning and sanding won't fix.

I love the little heart detail on the foot board, but if I turn it into a bench then that is where it would be cut in half....so sad....Too bad the headboard didn't have that heart in it.

So there you go.  All those headboards.  I have a lot of work to do.

A visit from the free stuff fairy...

Hi Everyone!  I just couldn't wait to show you....what the free stuff fairy (otherwise known as my aunt Barb) brought me today.  I ran home on my lunch half hour to meet my aunt and uncle and help them unload the van.  And I quickly took a couple of pictures so I could share them with you!

 Look at all those headboards and foot boards.  

Can't you just see all the benches I'm going to make?  I can.

 Look at this beauty.  It's old and it has the little casters on it.  Oh how I wish I had the matching foot board.

Look at that cream one in the background.  It's lovely too.

There were 16 pieces in this stack of headboards and foot boards.

Three headboard/foot board matching combos.

Two matching twin headboards.

Five headboards.

And one lone foot board.

And they will all be put to good use.

I also got a box of old books.  A box with wooden frames and an old Christmas tree.  A cooler with vintage jars and German bottles (my uncle is German).  And a box with a variety of nick-knacks.

My free stuff fairy is wonderful.  I wish you all had a free stuff fairy too.  

But don't even think about asking for mine.  

I can share lots of things with you but I just can't share my aunt too.

My Aunt Barb....

Hi Everyone!  I hope your week is going well.  Do you remember my aunt Barb?  Here she is with my nephew Quinton from last summer when she brought me a van full of free stuff.  She is my very favorite aunt.  She is my mother's sister.  She has the biggest heart (next to my mom) and will do anything to help you out.  She has become my personal "picker".  If I say I'm looking for something, she runs out and finds it.  And then won't let me pay her for it.

She found out right before Christmas that she has breast cancer.  And today, she's having surgery to remove the lump.  The good news is that all of her scans came back clear and showing no other cancer anywhere else. 

So please keep her in your thoughts and prayers (please) that the surgery goes well.  At this point she isn't going to need to chemo, just radiation.  I know my mother wishes she could be there, but Barb has a huge support group around her and if she needs her, she will call and my mom will be on the first plane there.  Thanks for your support and for stopping by.

Sheet music wreaths and ornaments...

Hi Everyone!  Happy Monday!  I've been busy getting ready for the craft fair this weekend and one of the things I've been making are sheet music wreaths and ornaments.  I first made these last year and they were a big hit and I've made them for every craft fair since and they go over very well.  So I thought I'd show some of the ones I'm taking to this fair.  Sorry about the pictures.  I always hang them in my dining room until I'm ready to box them up and unfortunately the walls are all antique white, so the wreaths don't show up as well in the pics. 

I make large, medium, and small wreaths and ornaments.

And I love how they all turn out looking different, yet similar.

I like the double row wreaths and the single row. 

I've even made tree toppers.

I know that sheet music wreaths are all over blogland and I'm not showing you anything you haven't seen before, but I enjoy making them and it seems that my customers enjoy them too.  They are great "filler" pieces in my booth at craft fairs since most of booth is filled with furniture pieces.  The sheet music I've been using is all from 1891-1893.  It has great color and the pages are in really great shape.  A few folded edges and a couple of small tares on a few pages, but nothing terrible.  And one of the things I love are the hand written notes on the sheets.  With instructions on how to play it or to learn this piece.  It was obviously used by a piano teacher.  I just wish I had taken some pictures of the notes.  But I've used the last sheet of music, which makes me a bit sad, but the really great news, is my Aunt Barb has already found some more for me and is sending it to me.  So thank you very much Aunt Barb!  I can't wait to get it!  Well, thanks for stopping by. 

Free stuff...

Hi Everyone!  Have I told you how much I love free stuff?  Well, I absolutely love it when friends, family, friends of family give me things for free with the idea that I can make something with it.  And boy does my aunt Barb help me out by giving me free stuff.  In fact, the things she gives me is usually really cool free stuff.  She sent these and several other bags of goodies that I haven't gone through yet to me via my parents.  She had an ancient cupboard in the basement of one of their rental properties that she wanted me to have, but it was much to difficult to get it out of the basement, so she took it apart.  And I got these doors.  Love them!  Can't wait to make something with them.  I'm thinking signs. 

I'm not sure what the little white door came from (in the 1st picture) but it's cute and could definitely be a darling sign.  Now to figure out exactly what it should say.  What would you do with these?  In case you can't tell, the doors are made from Wainscotting.  And boy are they in good shape except of course for the spray paint.  I've got to get busy getting ready for my next craft fair so hopefully I'll get these signs done before then.  Thanks for stopping by.
