Gold Canyon Review and a Giveaway...

Hi Everyone!  I hope your week is off to a great start.  I've been busy working on orders and getting things ready for my next show.  But today I want to introduce you to a friend of mine, Lynett.  Lynett is a representative for Gold Canyon.  Have you heard about Gold Canyon?  They have wonderful candles, warmers, diffusers and room sprays.

Lynett gave me the opportunity to test out one of their warmers.  And I am so excited about it.  I know there are a lot of different warmers out there to choose from, but the really cool thing about Gold Canyon warmers is that they are on timers.  So you don't have to remember to turn them off.  You can set it for 4, 8 or 12 hours.  How cool is that!
The pods mean that there's no messy wax to deal with and if you want to change scents it's as easy as removing one pod and popping in another one.
And the scent is wonderful.  I have the Sugar Cookie pod in the warmer as I write this and it is so good.  It's a subtle fragrance that feels the room with the most delicious smell.  I just love it.  It's not overpowering at all but yet fills the room nicely.  The only problem is that it's making me hungry for sugar cookies, but that is a problem I can definitely live with.
And don't you just love the warmer I picked out.  It's called Raven.  It reminds me of the headboard bench that I painted, you can check it out here.  I just love it!
Have you tried Gold Canyon?  Do you want to try it?  Lynett and I are giving away to one lucky reader, a $35 gift certificate + shipping to one address in the Continental US so that you can pick out what you want.  Whether that's a warmer and a pod, a couple of candles or room spray, that's completely up to you to decide.       .

All you have to do to win is visit Lynett's website here and come back and tell me what scent or product you'd like to try.

For additional entries (one for each), spread the word about this giveaway on Facebook, Twitter or your blog.

And last but not least, if you're interested in purchasing some Gold Canyon products, Lynett has a party going on under my name (Holly) on her site that you can order from until the end of the month.
This giveaway will be open until 12:01 PM on Friday, October 12th.  I will pick the winner via Random.org on Saturday October 13th.  This giveaway is open to US Residents that are over 18 years of age.  I have been compensated to host this giveaway but all opinions are my own.  I love my new warmer and have loved helping Lynett promote her businessThanks so much for stopping by.

You all know how much I love hand painted signs and this is one of my favorites.  Kimberly did an awesome job on this sign.  That leaf is gorgeous and that saying is my all time favorite saying from my favorite poet. Love it!
Kimberly @ Serendipity Refined
Have I said how much I love signs?  I adore this sign.  Mimi did a wonderful job on this sign.  I love the shape of it and how she aged the wood.  And I want one to go in my studio!  Great job Mimi!
Mimi @ Blue Roof Cabin

I love what Linda did with your kitchen cabinets.  What a great storage solution by adding sliders.  Wonderful idea!
Linda @ With a Blast

Isn't this ghost adorable?  My mom had one sort of like this when I was a little girl only it was from a solid piece of fabric.  It brings back so many memories.  I love how this one turned out!

Mixed media art work...

Hi Everyone!  I hope you're having a good evening.  I want to show you one of the art pieces I worked on this past weekend.  It's an easy piece that anyone could make and customize to match their decor.
Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures as I was making it.  But it's definitely not difficult.  I just takes some Modge Podge, paint (you could use a paint pen or marker), scrapbook paper and a piece of sheet music.  If I were to do this again, I'd photocopy the sheet music so it wasn't so thick.
I picked out a board and cut it to size.  I made this 11 1/4 x 14 1/4.  I sanded it and painted both sides cream.  To keep the board from warping, paint both sides.  The more coats you put on one side, you need to put on the other to keep it from warping.  Then I decoupaged the sheet music to the board.  At this point I found a sheet of scrapbook paper that I liked and photocopied it and then cut it out so it randomly fit around the edge of the board.  Then I decoupaged the sheets to it leaving the center open.
Then I painted the flowers in cream and plum which were light gray when I photocopied them.  I then hand-painted the words and the bird on the limb.  You could always use vinyl letters (you can get them at Walmart or Hobby Lobby or cut them out with a Silhouette or other cutting machine) and then attach them.  And of course the bird could be cut out too and applied or a stencil used.
I then added an antique medium which darkened the background a bit but really only shows up in person.  If you look closely you can see the difference.  And then I painted the edge of the board black.  To finish it all off, I added a coat of Modge Podge as a sealer to the whole thing.  It took longer waiting for it all to dry than to actually work on it.  I like how it turned out.  What do you think?  Thanks for stopping by!

An opportunity....are you interested?

Hi Everyone!  I hope your week has been going well and that you're as ready for the weekend as I am.  We've been busy doing inventory this week at work and by the time I come home at night the last thing I want to do is work or count or think.  So I'm sorry I haven't shared the rest of the new things I made and took to the fair.  We finished inventory today so I should be back to myself tomorrow and can post some new things I've made.
But tonight I'm here for a different purpose.  One of the hosts of the All Star Block Party, my sweet friend Carri, is going to be taking a blogging break while she heads off to college, so we are on the look out for guest co-hosts to fill her spot at our weekly link party.

If you are interested in being a guest co-host please contact me or
Heather @ New House, New Home, New Life
           Meg @ Nutmeg Place

Now I need to get some work done since my next show is only 22 days away.  And boy how time will fly...have a great night!  Thanks for stopping by!
