I didn't get a chance to take a before picture (although I'm sure I have one somewhere). The roofers came a couple of weeks ago and set up the scaffolding and then the weather turned on them until they could start last Tuesday (it snowed last Monday). I didn't know they were starting until I came home from lunch.
They started with the two story part of the house.
That part took them two and a half days to complete. Then one guy did the front porch while two of them removed the shingles from the one story part of the house (which is where the Studio is). Then the last day they finished the one story portion and cleaned up. There's a flat roof on the back side of the house that still needs to be done, but that's on the agenda for next year. It is the roof of several additions that include the back porch, pantry and bathroom which has a tarred roof on it.
Mom and Dad picked out the shingles last year. We were to be the last roof they were going to do last year, but the weather turned on them before they could get started so instead we became the first roof of this year. They did a great job on the roof and now I've got work to do on the garden beds before the Open House at the end of May. So much to do...hopefully I can get it all done in time. Thanks for stopping by.
Inquiring minds want to know if any of the roofers were good looking?

The roof looks great! That's one of those projects that I am glad is NOT a DIY ;-)
ReplyDeleteGlad you have a new roof over your head :)
ReplyDeleteBest of luck preparing for the Arbor day fair! I am sure you'll have some beautiful creations ready to be admired and sold.
It’s good news that everything turned out well. That’s why it is very important to find a reliable roofing contractor. Aside from quality service, you can be assured that your roof is in good hands.

first off Bliss's comment made me laugh and also what a cute house! Can't wait to see what you've been working on.
ReplyDeleteWhat a big job to get the roof done, but now it's done and should last a long, long time! You have a very pretty house, I think this is the first time I have seen the whole building.....very cozy, very country farmhouse! Diane
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever seen a picture of the farmhouse! It looks great!
ReplyDeleteyay for a new roof. good luck getting ready for the open house. I'm trying to get ready for Spring Fling on Saturday, then it's all about my upcoming show in May.

ps catching up on blogs, since I was away all week.
Your new roof looks awesome! Also, you were lucky that you were tended to first rather than the original plan. It really helps to hire a reliable roofing contractor to handle your roof problems. You can be assured of a fast and quality service and that nothing is wasted.
