A little blue stool...

Hi Everyone!  Happy Monday!  I had a busy weekend.  I spent Saturday working on the desk I'm making for  some friends and I'm close to finishing it.  Yeah!  But I'm not ready to show it to you yet.  I did finish one project.  I made a little stool.
Two years ago I took that little red stand and repurposed a portion of it into a footstool for my mom (you can read about that here).
I cut it apart and used the top to make mom's footstool.
And the base has been sitting on a shelf in the shop ever since, just waiting for me to do something with it.
I added a center support to it and sanded a couple of the legs that had a little damage on it.
Then I cut a 1x4" down to four boards for the top and used my biscuit joiner to attach them.
I clamped them together to dry.....
...and then attached the new top to the base.
I painted the base in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Louis Blue and the top in Old White.
I sanded the edges to reveal the red...
...and waxed it with both clear and dark wax.
I really like the way the red shows through and the aging on the top.
It's a cute stool that can be used as a footstool.  I have made several of these for my mom and she uses them to give height to an arrangement or a birdhouse or a plant or a basket filled with blankets or many uses for it.  Too many uses to count.  What would you use it for?  Have a great week everyone!  Thanks for stopping by.

  1. great stool! I would use it as a step stool. I have a round one I redid several years ago... I use it all the time. Many times I am just about 6 inches too short.... to wipe off the ceiling fan, to reach the back of a top shelf...a stool like this than you can use as decor, and then quickly grab it up is so useful... one for EVERY room in the house I say!
I too like the way the red shows through. I think I need to make some of these for Glendale, and if they don't sell, I can have one in each room. Currently need one in the kitchen and living room. ;)

  2. I love that you got two projects out of one! The little stool looks great.

  3. I love the colors you used. This turned out amazing. You really are a miracle worker when it comes to transforming furniture or pieces of furniture.

  4. Love the combination of blue and red, it's the same as a shelving unit I have in my kitchen, it brings out the detail on your lovely little table.

  5. I have got to try the ASCP in old white. I just love how the top turned out. The stool is super cute! I would love to invite you to share at my Weekend Beautiful Blog Party :-)

  6. I love what you have done with this! I love the BLUE and the new top!! Amazingly Done!! Thank you for Linking up at my Paint Party!
