A little table....

Hi Everyone.  I thought I'd show you what I finished working on last week.  Unfortunately, I can't find my before picture.  Last year my brother brought me an antique gate-legged table that he picked up for me.  It was a nice shade of blue but the top of it was completely warped and couldn't be saved.  But I will be cutting it apart and reusing in different ways.  Doesn't it look great!
I decided it wasn't practical for it to stay a gate-legged table...so I removed the gate-legs.  Which sounds easier than it is.  Sorry no pictures.  This table is made out of walnut.  Aged walnut.  So it was very difficult to cut into.  Once the gate legs were removed, I had to cut and fit boards to build up the apron where the gate legs fit into.  I also had to add some height to the table so I edged the top of the table to bring it to almost 30".  I also made a new top for it.
And here it is.  I knew I wanted to distress the table to reveal that pretty blue so I had to give the new wood pieces a coat of blue paint.  I mixed up some paint that almost matched it but not perfectly.....
...I painted it using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White, then sanded it to reveal the blue...and you can't tell what was new paint or what was old paint.  And I waxed it with clear wax.
There's just enough of the blue showing through without being in your face blue.
It's not a very big table.  It's 4' x 2'.  It can be used as a small kitchen table, a sofa table, or a desk.
And here it is in the studio.  It would work well with a bench seat too.  I really like how this turned out.  It's one of my favorites.  Does it seem like I'm saying that a lot lately?  I think it's because I'm making a lot of new and different things and that always makes me happy.  What have you made lately that made you happy?  Thanks for stopping by.
